property was estimated, 2,000 dollars was owned by

In a telegram received yesterday Her Majesty's

Consul at Canton informs me that piracy and robbery

are still flourishing in the neighbourhood with

absolute impunity, and that in spite of the warnings

repeatedly given to the Viceroy, no serious attempt

has been made to put a stop to such outrages.
